Chaves County Volunteer Fire Departments

There are 8 Volunteer Fire Departments, fourteen fire stations (with three new stations and one expansion project underway) and an average of 120 Volunteer Firefighters in Chaves County serving an area that covers 6,071 square miles of terrain that varies from arid dry desert grasses to green mountains and state forest lands.

The services the departments provide include Structure and Wildland Firefighting, Emergency Medical Services, Rescue Services and Fire Prevention Programs.

The Sierra Volunteer Fire Department has also been developing an Underwater Rescue Dive Team that is unique in that it has a blend of City of Roswell Firefighters and Volunteer Firefighters that train together to benefit the communities they serve.

Each department has its own Chief and there is one full time Administrator for all eight departments.
